Levelized Budget Billing

Levelized Budget Billing from TEC helps make your electric bill more predictable. Your monthly electric bill is calculated on a rolling average of your electric use from the current month and past 11 months. Seasonal, demand or special contract accounts are not eligible for the Levelized Budget Billing program at this time.

How it works

Your current monthly kilowatt-hour usage, based upon your true energy consumption, is added to the actual usage from the previous 11 months. The sum of these 12 months' consumption is then divided by 12 to arrive at your average monthly usage. This total is then combined with any current charges such as security light, Operation Round Up or taxes to determine your levelized bill.

The amount will not be the exact same each month but will be levelized to avoid extreme fluctuations. For example: If your usage is larger in the summer because of air conditioning, levelized billing will increase your monthly charges in the winter to lower your bills in the summer. If your bills are larger in the winter because of heating, levelized billing will increase your monthly charges in the summer to lower your bills in the winter.

The only time you have to reconcile or "catch-up" your account is if you close it or no longer want to participate in the Levelized Budget Billing program.

You must be a member of the cooperative for at least 11 months and your account balance must be at zero before being eligible for the Levelized Budget Billing Program.
