How to Read Your Meter
Pictured
below are three of the most common meters TEC
installs.
TEC members now have AMI technology that allows TEC to read their meter automatically. However, some of TEC's wholesale city customers still opt to use the meters below. Here is information on how to properly read those meters.

 |
| The most common meter is a cyclometer register
meter, which always has a zero at the end of the 5 digit
reading. When reading these types of meters, the zero
must be included in the reading. Example shown: 85460. |
Another type of cyclometer meter also has
a 5-digit reading, but may not have a zero at the end
of the reading. Include all digits when reading this type
of meter. Example shown: 27128. |

Some members have a digital meter. These types of meters
have a screen that changes about every 6 seconds.
The first screen to appear displays the number 8 across
the screen. This display is a segment check which allows
the meter reader to determine if the entire display
is operating correctly. If any of the digits on the
segment check do not appear as the number 8, it
could result in an incorrect meter reading. Please notify
TEC by writing a note on the payment
stub or calling 1-800-432-2285.
Another set of numbers appears next. This set of numbers
is the actual meter reading. |
